FAQs

Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage made by fermenting sweetened tea with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). Kombucha contains probiotics, antioxidants, and organic acids to promote healthy digestion and overall well-being.

The SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast), often referred to as the “mother” or “mushroom,” is a rubbery, pancake-like disc consisting of various strains of bacteria and yeast. SCOBY is a bi-product of the kombucha fermentation process.

Kombucha offers several potential health benefits such as improved digestion, immune support, detoxification, and antioxidant properties due to its probiotic content, antioxidants, and organic acids. Incorporating kombucha into a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle may contribute to overall wellness such as increased energy, improved mood, and a sense of vitality.

Radian kombucha is made using traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations. The process started by brewing sweetened green tea. Once the tea has cooled, a SCOBY and kombucha starter tea is added, then we let it ferment for 7-14 days. During fermentation, the SCOBY metabolizes the sugar and produces organic acids, enzymes, and probiotics, transforming the tea into kombucha. Radian kombucha is flavored using 100% fresh fruits and functional botanicals to enhance its health benefits and unique flavor profile.

Besides its beautiful colors, each flavor of Radian kombucha has its own uniqueness. Our kombucha is designed based on the health benefits of the ingredients, you can choose the flavor according to your personal preference and how your body feels.

Start with around 100 ml and see how you react to it. Once you get used to it, you can gradually increase your consumption to a full bottle over time.

Kombucha naturally contains trace amounts of alcohol, usually less than 0.5% alcohol by volume (ABV). Alcohol in kombucha is a natural by-product of fermentation and does not lead to drunkenness. Radian kombucha is made with proper fermentation techniques and storage practices to ensure that the alcohol content remains low.

Radian Kombucha is made with green tea which contains caffeine. However, the caffeine content in green tea is less than in black tea and much less than in coffee. Moreover, caffeine kombucha is also lower than the original tea, as some of the caffeine is metabolized during fermentation.

Sugar is essential in the kombucha fermentation process. Sugar acts as a source of nutrition for the bacteria and yeast which will be metabolized into organic acids, vitamins, and minerals throughout the fermentation process. As the sugar in kombucha has been broken down, it has a lower glycemic impact on the body and does not interact the same way as table sugar. Radian Kombucha contains 4 g of sugar per 100 ml kombucha and can be considered a low-sugar beverage.

Radian Kombucha is a raw, unpasteurized, and unfiltered product. The floating strands are the new SCOBY that formed inside the bottle, which is also a good sign as it means the probiotics culture in our kombucha is active, alive, and healthy. They are perfectly natural, healthy, and safe to consume. As we use whole fruits and botanicals to flavor our kombucha, ingredients may settle at the bottom of the bottle. Feel free to gently turn the bottle upside down to disperse the sediment.

Kombucha should always be kept chilled in a refrigerator to maintain the quality and safety of kombucha. Refrigeration helps to preserve the flavor of kombucha by slowing down the fermentation process. Kombucha can continue to ferment at room temperature and cause change in flavor. Refrigeration is also essential to maintain a low alcohol level of kombucha.

Unopened kombucha can last up to two months in the refrigerator. For the best quality and experience, we suggest consuming before the “best before” date printed on the bottle and finishing it within three days after opening.

Kombucha will not spoil if it’s not refrigerated as the low pH in kombucha inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria. However since it will continue to ferment at room temperature, the taste might change over time. It will become increasingly acidic and result in a less palatable beverage. We recommend putting them in the fridge once you have access to one, but it is ok to leave them at room temperature for 5-6 hours.

While many people enjoy kombucha and find it beneficial, it may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals with certain health conditions, such as compromised immune systems, and sensitivities to caffeine or alcohol, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult with a healthcare professional before consuming kombucha. As with any dietary change, it’s always a good idea to listen to your body and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns or underlying health conditions.
